2010-11 update

After 24 successful years, the Green Valley Illini Club was deactivated by the UIAA on April 30, 2009, due to the club’s inability to develop leadership to carry on.

However, through the efforts of Ingrid and Bruce Hutchings, and the ad hoc committee they have organized, pay-as-you go (no dues were collected for 2010-2011) dinner-programs have been planned for the winter and early spring months.  The Hutchings do not want to see the membership of the Green Valley Illini Club fragmented and lost because of the club’s formal inactivation.  In this interim period, it is hoped that leadership will step up to the plate and assume primary officer positions for the 2011 and 2012 year, once again allowing the Green Valley Illini Club to function, as it has for the past 24 years.

If we are unable to secure primary leadership for 2011 and 2012 the two options still prevail:

  1. Continue another year where an ad hoc committee will present programs on a ‘pay-as-you-go” basis

  2. Re-instigate discussions with the Tucson Illini Club about joining them.
